Prosecutor General orders new checks of gold producers
MOSCOW, Aug 17 (PRIME) -- Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov ordered on Wednesday to check gold producers additionally having found law violations during exploration and development in several regions, the authority said in a statement.
"The situation demanded intervention by the prosecutors. Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov decided to carry out additional checks of gold producers located in the key centers of the precious metal production this year," the statement read.
The authority also said that the alluvial gold production technologies the companies use are not environmentally friendly and can change riverbeds and coastal landscape, be accompanied by discharge of washing waters containing suspended particles of clay, sand and chemicals into the water bodies, and degradation of the ecosystem.
